Over the years we’ve heard persistant rumors of a POLTERGEIST remake, but it wasn’t until Sam Raimi and his Ghost House Pictures got involved that it seemed the film could actually happen. Back in October we shared the news that OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL writer David Lindsay-Abaire had been given the job of writing the screenplay for the long-gestating project, and now Deadline has reported that Gil Kenan is now attached to direct.
Kenan is best known for directing the animated hit MONSTER HOUSE as well as 2008’s science fiction/fantasy film CITY OF EMBER. He is third director to have been attached to the remake, so let’s hope he sticks.
The remake of the 1982 Tobe Hooper-directed pic is being produced by Sam Raimi, Nathan Kahane, and Roy Lee. The original starred Craig T. Nelson and Jobeth Williams as parents in a family whose dream house turns into a nightmare.
For me, the scene above was the most frightening thing about POLTERGEIST. I still hate clowns!
