Want to know about the Evil Dead remake’s cut ending?

This should go without saying: if you haven’t seen EVIL DEAD yet, don’t read this article…

If you’re still with us, this is a fun morsel to chew on. Those of you who sat through the end credits of the film know that Bruce Campbell makes a very brief appearance once the final credit has rolled, popping up to say “Groovy.” That’s all well and good, but the flick evidently had a much meatier post-credits sequence that ended up on cutting-room floor.

Bloody Disgusting got the goods on the matter, so I’ll let them tell it; just know that it takes place directly after the film’s conclusion, with a blood-soaked Mia (Jane Levy) stumbling away from the scene of the demonic shenanigans.

Right after what we see in the film ends, Mia makes it out to the road. She’s exhausted and covered in blood. She passes out. A truck with a farmer (“Billy Bob”) and his wife happen upon her and they help her into the truck. She’s in the backseat, dazed as they’re headed to the hospital. Just as the farmer is explaining that she’ll be ok – BOOM! She opens her eyes. She’s a deadite, she smiles and the film cuts to black.

Apparently this was shot but left out. Seems a fairly standard “it’s not over yet!” ending that doesn’t really add much to the film – other than the promise of a sequel, of course. After the film tallied over $26 million in its opening weekend, I think it’s safe to say now that a sequel is inevitable.

Might we end up seeing the cut ending when the film hits DVD/Blu-ray (which should be in early July)? Time will tell.
