Right now CinemaCon (formerly known as Showest) is going down in Las Vegas; before Comic-Con became what it is, this was the place to be to watch all the studios show off their big upcoming projects. Hence, we can expect to see some posters and other goods leak out in the upcoming days – like the following two posters for R.I.P.D. and the remake of OLDBOY. They’re not high-res, unfortunately, but at least we can see what direction the marketing department is going for the time being.
Opening on July 19th, R.I.P.D. goes like this:
Welcome to the Rest In Peace Department — the devoted, yet dead, officers of divine law enforcement “patrolling the deadbeat…reporting to one boss.” Yep — THAT boss. Nick Cruz was murdered by an unknown assailant, at the height of his personal and professional life. Now he’s traded a hundred years of service to the R.I.P.D. in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him. Unfortunately his search will take him to Hell and back — literally!
And opening on October 19th, Spike Lee’s OLDBOY breaks down this way:
OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.
We should be seeing trailers for both of these pretty soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
