Ben Wheatley blew many of us away with 2011's KILL LIST, easily one of the best reviewed films of the year. Our own Chris Bumbray caught it at TIFF 2011 and went nuts for it (read his review HERE), Eric found it solidly entertaining (peep his take HERE), and The Arrow found it to be a brilliant mind-f*ck of a film (his thoughts are HERE). The film most certainly solidified Wheatley as a 'director to watch' and we eagerly anticipated his next outing, SIGHTSEERS.

I can happily report that SIGHTSEERS doesn't disappoint. Bumbray praised it as another gem from Wheatley in his review, and Eric found it to be as 'demented, funny and disarmingly sweet as I hoped it would be'. After seeing it for myself, I can honestly say that Wheatley is more than just a director to watch…he's one of the very best working in the industry today!

Chris (Steve Oram) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe) his world and he wants to do it his way – on a journey through this sceptred isle in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina’s led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see – the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that separates these wonders in his life. But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge…

The film is hitting theaters in the U.S. courtesy of IFC on May 10th, followed quickly by a VOD debut three days later on May 13. Do yourself a solid and seek it out. Now we can begin counting down the days until Wheatley's A FIELD IN ENGLAND.
