Yesterday we shared the news that Zero Gravity had set up Mukunda Michael Dewil (VEHICLE 19) to helm the upcoming thriller WET HOUSE, a film that originally had Thomas Jane (THE PUNISHER) onboard to both star and direct. This announcement left many wondering if Jane was still attached to appear in the film even though Dewil had taken over directing duties, and now our brothers-in-blood over at Dread Central have learned that Jane is no longer involved with the project, stating…
Jane is no longer involved with the project as the producers decided to go in a different direction by opting for a female lead for the film. Casting is currently under way.
Well, that blows. We were looking forward to seeing what Jane would deliver working behind the camera and we're always up for seeing him do his thing in front of it, so to hear that he is no longer involved with WET HOUSE is kind of disappointing. Still, WET HOUSE sounds like it could be a good time as the plot is said to revolve around…
a psychologist who becomes entangled with the mysterious resident of a wet house, whose apparent psychic abilities help her aid the police in solving a string of grizzly, bath salt-fueled massacres.
Mark Holder and Christine Holder are producing and financing for Zero Gravity. The film will shoot this fall in South Africa as the first of three features Zero Gravity plans to shoot there.
Dewil says of the script…
“I like the idea that everything is layered with this atmosphere of unnamed trepidation– nothing can be trusted at face value and that kind of foreboding really gives me a lot to work with when creating the world of this story."
We'll keep you posted on news regarding WET HOUSE as we hear it.
