Earlier this month we hit you with the trailer to Bong Joon-ho's post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller SNOWPIERCER, and today we have a cool look at the backstory on how the catastrophic ice age began with an extended animated clip that also depicts the first departure of the titular train.
Based on the French graphic novel "Le Transperceneige," SNOWPIERCER is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
We're still unsure when SNOWPIERCER will be released, but supposedly the film will debut later this year. We'll keep you posted.
SNOWPIERCER stars Chris Evans, Song Kang-ho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Brewmner, Alison Pill, John Hurt and Ed Harris.
