Alexandre Desplat, the composer who worked on two recent Best Picture winners with ARGO and THE KING'S SPEECH, will be the man behind the music in Gareth Edwards' GODZILLA. With Desplat's impressive body of work there's no doubt in my mind that he's going to nail this one. It's going to be great seeing GODZILLA tear shit up to the tune of Desplat's score.
I always loved the original Godzilla theme, so it would be pretty cool to see if Desplat tries to incorporate parts of that theme into his own score. Music in film is so damn important because it brings out the emotion and tone of the movie and with Desplat on board, I'd say Edwards' film is in safe hands.
Edwards directs from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. The film is set to crash into theaters on May 16, 2014 with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Richard T. Jones, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn, Patrick Sabongui, Yuki Morita, Brian Markinson, Juliette Binoche, Akira Takarada, Victor Rasuk, C.J. Adams, and Ken Watanabe all starring.
