It has been quite some time since we've seen or heard anything on director Jonathan Glazer's adaptation of Michael Faber's UNDER THE SKIN, with our last word on this intriguing-sounding project coming in May of 2012 when we shared the first official image with you. Now the first teaser footage for the flick has hit the web and it is chock full of grotesque, strange and unsettling footage featuring all kinds of Lynchian weirdness and a creepy but alluring Scarlett Johannson.
In the film, which wrapped in London last year, Johansson plays…
Isserley, an alien on earth, disguised as the perfect aesthetic form of a mesmerizing woman. She scours remote highways and desolate scenery looking to use her greatest weapon to snare human prey — her voracious sexuality. She is deadly efficient, but over time becomes drawn to and changed by the complexity of life on earth. With this new found humanity and weakening alien resolve, she finds herself on a collision course with her own kind.
Glazer and Walter Campbell wrote the screenplay. Producers are James Wilson (JW Films) and Nick Wechsler (Nick Wechsler Productions).
UNDER THE SKIN will be playing at TIFF on September 9, 2013. No official release date has been announced, but expect one shortly after TIFF.
