Mike Flanagan's OCULUS made its premiere last night as part of the Toronto International Film Festival's Midnight Madness line-up, but that wasn't the only reason Flanagan had to celebrate this weekend. Over the weekend Variety reported that Flanagan has re-teamed with Intrepid Pictures to helm the horror film SOMNIA with production starting this fall.
“Somnia is described as a haunting, emotionally absorbing horror film about an orphaned child whose dreams — and nightmares — manifest physically as he sleeps. The film explores the enduring bonds between parent and child and is punctuated by sequences of intense, visceral terror that only a child’s imagination could conjure.”
Even better, Deadline learned that RIDDICK and OCULUS star Katee Sackhoff has signed on to SOMNIA, reteaming with Flanagan for the horror pic.
SOMNIA begins production later this fall, with Focus Features International handling international sales on the psychological horror film scripted by Flanagan and Jeff Howard. Trevor Macy is producing through Intrepid Pictures banner with William D. Johnson and Sam Englebardt of Demarest Films. Demarest will co-finance with MICA Entertainment. Mali Elfman is exec producer.
