Back in February we learned that BOOM! Studios was bringing the truck driving badass, Jack Burton, back to life in comic book form, and now, just ahead of the release of their first issue, we’ve got a preview of the first six pages of the comic to share with you guys via EW. If you were on the fence with this one back in February, then this preview outta change your mind because it looks like a hell of a lot of fun and keeps to the same style and humor as John Carpenter’s 1986 cult classic.
Co-written by Eric Powell (The Goon) and Carpenter with art by Brian Churilla, the first issue is due to hit shelves in just a few days, June 4, and picks up right where the film left off. And if you were ever worried about Powell’s take on the iconic character, here’s what Carpenter had to say: “He really gets Burton’s sense of humor and who he is. Jack Burton is really a piece of s— if you want to be honest. He’s a blowhard, he’s sort of incompetent but he thinks he knows everything. He’s really fun. He’s completely out of his league. That’s the most fun about it.”
The ongoing monthly comic book series BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA kicks off on June 4th with a handful of different collectible covers illustrated by Powell, Joe Quinones, Chris Weston, Terry Dodson, and Emi Yonemura Brown. Alright, enough of all these words and stuff. Take a look!
