It was just barely over one year ago when we brought you the first bizarre trailer for Steve Wolsh's directorial debut MUCK, which stars genre icon Kane Hodder alongside Lachlan Buchanan and 2012 Playboy Playmate of the Year Jaclyn Swedberg. At the time the film was billed as a kind of 'DIE HARD meets EVIL DEAD' style of film, which certainly intrigued us. Earlier this year we brought you a second trailer for MUCK, and we have to admit that the film looks like the kind of gooey fun we like with old school special effects and plenty of gore. Now we've learned that the film has found a home and could be coming our way sooner than we had anticipated!
THR is reporting that Anchor Bay has picked up the U.S. and Canadian distribution rights to MUCK and is planning a theatrical release in the first quarter of 2015. Nice!
In an interesting move, the flick is the middle chapter of a horror trilogy, with the first installment not even shot yet. The three films will bookend each other, taking place the day before, day of, and the day after a Saint Patrick's Day in Cape Cod, Mass., where MUCK was filmed on location.
MUCK concerns a group of friends emerging from the foggy darkness of a marsh, tattered and bloody, and lucky to be alive. They take shelter in an empty Cape Cod vacation house but soon learn that something more savage is lying in wait in the house, even as what was in the marsh still wants them dead.
Lauren Francesca, Puja Mohindra, Bryce Draper, Stephanie Danielson, Laura Jacobs, Gia Skova and Grant Alan Ouzts also star.
Anchor Bay plans to unveil its first official theatrical trailer for MUCK at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo 2014, which runs Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 in Los Angeles, so we'll be sure to bring it to ya as soon as it hits!
