Norman Bates creeps in Bates Motel Season 3 promo

The first promo for “Bates Motel” Season 3 brings us a very familiar sight: Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) peeking through a peephole as a lovely young lady undresses. Any horror fan worth their salt knows this is a callback to Alfred Hitchcock’s PSYCHO , and it raises the question: will Norman (and the show itself) go full “psycho” this coming season? I sure hope they do something different; Season 2 was a bore.

Bates Motel” is a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film “Psycho,” and gives a portrayal of how Norman Bates’ (Freddie Highmore) psyche unravels through his teenage years. Fans discover the dark, twisted backstory of Norman Bates and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga), truly is.

Also starring Vera Farmiga, Max Thieriot, Nestor Carbonell and Olivia Cooke, “Bates Motel” returns to A&E March 2015.
