This one looks like a winner, kids. THE BOY NEXT DOOR is one of your typical “forbidden romance gone bad” psychological thrillers, a genre that has mostly been relegated to Lifetime at this point. This entry has a bit more prestige, of course: Jennifer Lopez stars while Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) directs and Jason Blum produces. Still, it couldn’t look more bland if it tried. (Just revisit the poster for further proof.)

This first clip from the film shows us the beginning of the doomed love affair between Lopez and boytoy Ryan Guzman. Try to stifle your laughter.

The film stars Jennifer Lopez as a newly separated mother who finds herself attracted to the teenage boy who moves in next door and befriends her son. But when she wants to stop their illicit romance, he’s not ready to let her go.

THE BOY NEXT DOOR also stars John Corbett and Kristin Chenoweth. It comes out on January 23rd.
