Tale of Tales, starring Salma Hayek and John C. Reilly, acquired by IFC

Perhaps you’ll recall the very bizarre promo trailer we premiered a few weeks ago for TALE OF TALES, a twisted anthology by director Matteo Garrone. You know, the one where Salma Hayek eats a dragon’s heart and Toby Jones tends to a giant flea? If you missed it, it has helpfully been embedded below; I highly recommend giving it a peek. The movie, which centers around three wickedly weird fairy tales, stars Salma Hayek, Vincent Cassel, John C. Reilly, Toby Jones, Shirley Henderson and Hayley Carmichael and recently played the Cannes Film Festival, mostly to high praise.

Good news for those of us who can’t wait to gaze upon this oddity: It’s now being reported TALE OF TALES has been acquired by distributor IFC Films. No word on when it’ll come out yet, but you can probably expect a simultaneous theatrical and VOD release. (Maybe even an Oscar push?)

The film is based on Giambattista Basile’s 17th century collection, “The Tale of Tales or Entertainment for Little Ones.”
