The internet is going to love this one—The Wrap reports that not only is BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA getting remade, but it’s going to star Dwayne Johnson as Jack Burton. Per the site, Johnson is in negotiations to star in a remake of John Carpenter‘s cult classic that will be written by X-MEN FIRST CLASS scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who have already closed a deal to write the script.
While I can’t really imagine Johnson playing an All-American trucker who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in San Francisco’s Chinatown, stranger things have happened… right? The original 1986 movie starred Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall and only managed to gross $11 million at the domestic box office, but it has since become a a cult classic.
I actually don't even know what to say about this. Good luck, I guess? Johnson is a great actor and brings so much charisma to his roles that he often steals every scene he's in, but I just can't imagine him playing the truck-driving Jack Burton. But who knows, maybe that will be part of the film's appeal.
