The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Dr. Moreau coming to DVD/Blu in July

David Gregory's documentary LOST SOUL: THE DOOMED JOURNEY OF RICHARD STANLEY’S ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU will be hitting DVD and Blu-ray on July 14th thanks to Severin Films, who have put together two different editions of the release. 

First, a single disc edition with special features including 

over an hour of out-takes, additional interviews with John Frankenheimer and Barbara Steele, concept art gallery with Stanley commentary, Boar Man Diary featurette, location featurette and more.

Then there's the three disc "House of Pain" edition, which adds

a DVD of the long thought lost 1921 German version of Moreau THE ISLAND OF THE LOST with English subtitles, plus more interview featurettes. 

The third disc will contain a brand new audiobook recording of H.G. Wells’ 'The Island of Dr. Moreau', read by Richard Stanley.

LOST SOUL tells the story behind the disastrous production of the 1996 adaptation of H.G. Wells' THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU, a project HARDWARE/DUST DEVIL director Richard Stanley had been developing for years. Just a few days into filming, Stanley was fired and replaced by John Frankenheimer, who went on to have plenty problems of his own during the shoot.

It sounds like fascinating subject matter. I remember hearing of DR. MOREAU's troubles back in '96 and I'm looking forward to finally getting all the details nearly twenty years later.
