No one is safe from The Redwood Massacre on July 7th

I love slasher movies, particularly the ones that came out in the 1980s. I'm always on the lookout for '80s slashers that I might have missed, as well as modern entries in the sub-genre that might somehow, hopefully, live up to its gory glory days. Because of this, writer/director David Ryan Keith's promising Scottish production THE REDWOOD MASSACRE is a movie that has been on my radar for a while now. 

Starring Mark Wood, Lisa Cameron, Lisa Livingstone, Rebecca Wilkie, and Alec Westwood, THE REDWOOD MASSACRE has a synopsis that will sound familiar to any slasher fan:

For five adventurous friends, visiting the legendary murder site of the Redwood House has all the hallmarks of being an exciting and thrilling camping weekend away.

A popular site for revellers and party goers, each year on the exact date of the famous local family massacre, people from around the country head out to the site to have fun and scare each other.

Events take a bloody turn for the worse when the innocent campers discover the Redwood legend is in fact a horrible bloody reality, which turns the unsuspecting victims into prey for a mysterious axe wielding maniac that has remained dormant for 20 years.

It's a simple set-up, which is all a slasher needs. From there, it's all in the execution – of the story, and of its characters.

How good are THE REDWOOD MASSACRE's executions? We'll be able to find out when Uncork'd Entertainment releases it to DVD and VOD on July 7th.
