Bodom is a camp slasher straight out of Finland

Movies have shown us that a lot of campgrounds around the United States are the territory of slashers, but we're not alone in having this particular type of trouble plaguing our remote countryside getaways. The Finnish film BODOM is set to show us that Finland has a camp slasher problem, too.

Directed by Taneli Mustonen, who also wrote the screenplay with producer Aleksi Hyvärinen, BODOM tells the following story: 

Every camper’s worst nightmare came true at Lake Bodom in 1960 when four teenagers were stabbed to death while sleeping in their tent. As the years passed and the case grew cold, the unsolved mystery turned into an urban legend, a creepy campfire story passed from generation to generation.

Now, a group of teenagers arrives at the same campsite, hoping to solve the murder by reconstructing it minute by minute. As night falls, turns out not all of them are there to play.

Tonight… it’s girls against boys. Let the killing games begin.

Sounds like your typical slasher, and I'm all for getting more of those, but the filmmakers claim that this is inspired by true events.

Filmed from late September into October, BODOM is now in post-production, with a release expected sometime in 2016. To whet your appetite, here's a teaser trailer Mustonen shot to help build interest in the project last year.
