Justin Chatwin, Megan Ketch star in CBS murder mystery American Gothic

From Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios, a new muder mystery series is being born. American Gothic, not to be confused with the Sam Raimi-produced series in the mid-90's or the remarkably underrated 1988 slasher flick, was created by Corinne Brinkerhoff (The Good Wife, Jane the Virgin) and is set to star Justin Chatwin and Megan Ketch.

Justin Chatwin is perhaps best known for playing Tom Cruise's son in Speilberg's WAR OF THE WORLDS, though he also appeared in Orphan Black and the eternal classic SUPERBABIES: BABY GENIUSES 2. Ketch is best known in the horror community for playing supporting character Harriet Arnold in Under the Dome.

American Gothic centers on the Hawthornes, a prominent Boston family that is attempting to redefine itself in the wake of a chilling discovery that links their recently deceased patriarch to a string of murders spanning decades, amid the mounting suspicion that one of them may have been his accomplice.

Chatwin will play "Cam Hawthorne, a sensitive, introspective artist and recovering drug addict who begins to realize that his 8-year-old son has a serious, terrifying problem – and ultimately seeks comfort in the arms of his manipulative but magnetic ex-wife, a fellow addict."

Opposite him, Ketch will portray "the youngest of the Hawthorne siblings, Tessa, a bright, nurturing public school teacher who soon finds herself deeply conflicted about how to handle a chilling discovery linked to her family."

While I won't be sold on the show until I can see at least a trailer for it, that's a fun, offbeat cast. Child actors attempting to build a career as adults is always either incredible or incredibly hilarious, so it's a win-win! More on this story as it breaks!
