My interest in the works of writer/director Megan Freels Johnston is something she has inherited – her grandfather, novelist Elmore Leonard, is one of my favorite authors of all time, so I'm very interested in seeing what other stories his bloodline has to offer.
Johnston made her feature directorial debut with last year's REBOUND, and in May of 2016 will begin filming her second feature, THE ICE CREAM TRUCK.
The synopsis:
Mary’s husband gets relocated for work which allows her to move back to her suburban hometown. As Mary’s family ties up loose ends back home, she moves into their new house all alone and… waits. Although her familiar suburb is a constant reminder of her youth, something seems strange. A local Ice Cream Man with a love of nostalgia starts to kill some of her neighbors. Mary is torn between her mature instincts that something wrong and the distracting memories of her younger days.
Deanna Russo (pictured above) is set to star in the film, which is being produced by Johnston and Hilary Barraford.
THE ICE CREAM TRUCK sounds like a fun project, and I'm looking forward to discovering if I'll be a fan of Megan Freels Johnston's creations regardless of the "From the granddaughter of Elmore Leonard" aspect.
