The Cabin Fever remake may be getting a February release

The news that Eli Roth's 2002 breakthrough film CABIN FEVER would be getting a remake just barely over ten years after its release, and very soon after the sequel CABIN FEVER: PATIENT ZERO had been released, was quite surprising – especially since the director Travis Zariwny was choosing to work from the same shooting script, written by Roth and Randy Pearlstein, as the original film. Apparently the events, characters, and words are all intact, this time they're just filtered through Zariwny's vision rather than Roth's. (One thing that has been changed are the deaths.) As Roth put it, it was like "re-staging a play".

In case you need a refresher on the story, 

Cabin Fever follows a group of five college graduates who rent a cabin in the woods. Soon, all hell breaks loose, as the group falls victim to a flesh-eating virus that attracts the unwanted attention of the homicidal locals.

Whether you find this remake to be pointless and unnecessary or an intriguing experiment, it will soon be released into the world by IFC Midnight. The first official still can be seen above, and the rumor spreading around the internets (sourced to IMDb) is that the movie will be getting a limited theatrical, VOD, and Digital HD release on February 12, 2016.

Travis Zariwny's CABIN FEVER stars Gage Golightly, Matthew Daddario, Samuel Davis, Nadine Crocker, and Dustin Ingram, with Louise Linton taking over from Giuseppe Andrews as the original movie's most popular character, Deputy Winston. The gender has changed, but the dialogue remains the same. Linton can be seen in character in the images below.
