The newest flick from OCULUS director Mike Flanagan is HUSH, the SXSW hit that is now streaming exclusively on Netflix. When I reviewed it, I said it was a pretty thoroughly generic plot line but an electrifying good time. But who needs to take my word for it when they have Stephen King's? That's right, the prolific horror author has expressed his support of the film via his Twitter:
How good is HUSH? Up there with HALLOWEEN and–even more–WAIT UNTIL DARK. White knuckle time. On Netflix.
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) April 21, 2016
While I might disagree with King's assessment that the film is anywhere near as good as John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN, this is a huge boost for Flanagan, whose film certainly deserves the viewership that King is driving over.
Other recent films that Stephen King has expressed his support for include THE WITCH, 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, and AMERICAN ULTRA.
In HUSH:
After losing her hearing as a teenager, author Maddie Young has lived a life of isolation fully retreating into her now silent world. When the masked face of a psychotic killer appears in the window of her secluded home, she must push herself beyond her mental and physical limits in order to survive the night.
HUSH stars Kate Siegel and 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE's John Gallagher, Jr. It is currently streaming on Netflix. You can see MIke Flanagan's work twice more this year with BEFORE I WAKE, out this month, and OUIJA 2 on October 21st.
