Cool Horror Videos: John Carpenter performs the EFNY theme live in studio

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Master of horror and master of synth music John Carpenter will be following up his two recently released albums of new compositions, Lost Themes and Lost Themes II, with two 12-inch records containing re-recorded themes from some of his most popular movies.

One of the albums will contain the themes from ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and THE FOG, while the other features the themes from HALLOWEEN and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.

To help promote the June 17th releases, a video has been released online that shows Carpenter in studio with his band, which includes his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, recording the new take of the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK theme. The music sounds as awesome as ever, and it's really cool to see Carpenter and his cohorts play it.

The albums are available for pre-order on the Sacred Bones website, with three options to choose from: a standard edition, a limited edition picture disc, and an even more limited edition pressed on "mystery colored" vinyl. If you attend Carpenter's upcoming tour, you'll also have a chance to purchase special blue and red vinyl editions.
