Ghost sex horror/comedy Lace Crater coming from Invincible Pictures

When it made its world premiere at TIFF last September, writer/director Harrison Atkins’ feature debut LACE CRATER caught my attention with its plot description:

During a drug-fueled weekend with friends, Ruth has a one-night stand with a ghost. Soon after, she begins to feel a bit… strange.

If that’s not enough to grab you, there’s also a more detailed synopsis: 

All Ruth wanted was to get away for the weekend. Escaping to the Hamptons with friends after a bad breakup, she finds an unexpected connection with Michael, a stranger who shows up in her room one boozy night. They have great chemistry, and she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. There’s only one problem: Michael’s a ghost, and a one night stand with him leaves Ruth with aftereffects that can only be described as supernatural. As she suffers through mucous-laden night sweats, glitchy hallucinations, and the occasional tar-black ooze, her friends become too disgusted to support her. Ruth must figure out for herself if she can reintegrate into society – or if she even wants to.

There is no way I’m not going to be watching a horror/comedy about the dangers of ghost sex. The movie has been making the festival rounds since September, and thankfully has landed a distribution deal with Invincible Pictures.

Invincible has announced that they will be releasing LACE CRATER theatrically in New York City and onto VOD (exclusively on FlixFling) on July 29th. A theatrical release in Los Angeles will follow on August 5th, then the movie will receive a national rollout after that. 

The film stars Lindsay Burdge, Peter Vack, Chase Williamson, and Keith Poulson. It was produced by Lawrence Dai, Adam Kritzer, and Joe Swanberg.
