It’s no joke: Jared Leto has joined the cast of Blade Runner 2

And that's a wrap on casting for BLADE RUNNER 2! The final role before production begins has been filled by none other than Jared Leto. Leto, the frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars, is currently residing at the top of the box office charts with his appearance as The Joker in SUICIDE SQUAD. There are currently no details on his character (or the plot, for that matter).

Lest we forget, Leto has an Oscar on his shelf, for his performance in DALLAS BUYERS CLUB in 2013. He's also had considerable genre experience, having held roles in films as widely varied as FIGHT CLUB, URBAN LEGEND, AMERICAN PSYCHO, and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM.

Leto joins a terrific ensemble cast including Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Dave Bautista, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Lennie James, Hiam Abbass, and Harrison Ford, returning in his original role as Rick Deckard. The screenplay was penned by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, from a story by Ridley Scott and Fancher. The film is produced by Alcon Entertainment.

The film will run into theaters on October 6, 2017.
