The 9th Life of Louis Drax Alexandre Aja Jamie Dornan

Twelve years ago, Miramax picked up the film rights to the Liz Jensen novel THE 9TH LIFE OF LOUIS DRAX, which told the story of

a little boy who every year suffers through a violent act. After his 9th birthday, he falls off a cliff on a family picnic and ends up in a coma. When a doctor arrives, he starts to unravel the mysteries surrounding Louis’ experiences and is drawn into a mysterious web between reality and deception.

The project was being developed by Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack, both of whom sadly passed away before they could guide the adaptation into production. After his father's passing, Minghella's son Max Minghella took over the screenwriting duties and has teamed with director Alexandre Aja, with whom he worked on the film HORNS, to finally bring THE 9TH LIFE OF LOUIS DRAX to the screen, assembling quite an impressive cast to bring its characters to life – Jamie Dornan, Sarah Gadon, Aaron Paul, Molly Parker, Barbara Hershey, and Oliver Platt.

Twelve years of development, tragedy, and passion have been building up to September 2nd, when THE 9TH LIFE OF LOUIS DRAX will be reaching theatres courtesy of courtesy of Lionsgate’s Summit Premiere and Miramax. With just a couple days to go before we get to see how it all turned out, today we have an EXCLUSIVE CLIP to share that gives a small taste of the film's tone, characters, and visual style.

In this clip, Dornan's character is being hypnotized by Platt while an anxious Gadon looks on. It doesn't reveal much, but it does show that Aja took an interesting approach to the hypnosis process.
