Sadako vs. Kayako

Having already been released in its native Japan, director Kōji Shiraishi's RING / GRUDGE crossover monster mash SADAKO VS. KAYAKO is now making its way to the other side of the world. A press and industry screening for the film was held at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, and there are two more TIFF screenings coming up for it this weekend. This fall, SADAKO VS. KAYAKO will be available for viewing in the U.S. through the streaming service Shudder.

Coinciding with its TIFF North American premiere, a clip for SADAKO VS. KAYAKO has been released online through Shudder and Vulture, presented in Japanese with English subtitles, as it should be. In this clip, which can be seen below, a young girl discovers that the details of a legend involving a cursed video tape are very accurate.

Tina Tamashiro stars as Suzuka Takagi, a girl who carries Kayako's curse after exploring the abandoned house, while Mizuki Yamamoto plays Yūri Kurahashi, a girl caught between Sadako and Kayako.

SADAKO VS. KAYAKO isn't the only RING-related film being released this year. RINGS, a sequel to the American remake THE RING, is scheduled for an October 28th theatrical release.
