Godzilla 2 to be penned by Krampus’ Mike Dougherty and Zach Shields

Godzilla 2 Zach Shields Mike Dougherty

This Halloween, Legendary is giving us a treat, not a trick. The company has just attached screenwriters Mike Dougherty and Zach Shields (who previously co-wrote KRAMPUS for the company) to the upcoming GODZILLA 2, the sequel to Gareth Edwards' 2014 GODZILLA.

Edwards is no longer attached to helm the project, so the director's seat is still up for grabs. I've got my fingers crossed that Dougherty can slide on in there. Maybe he could use that to finally manuever his way into TRICK 'R TREAT 2.

There is also a rumor that Legendary will be creating a writer's room to help guide their planned King Kong/Godzilla universe, though there's no indication that Dougherty and Shields will be directly involved. GODZILLA 2 is set to storm theaters on March 22, 2019, to be swiftly followed by GODZILLA VS. KONG on May 29, 2020.
