What are the chances TWO of the horror genre's most pivitol creators were born on the same day? Crazy, right? Without January 25, we would not have been graced with the intense nightmare of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, or the once scary, now funny and fun, havoc of the CHILD'S PLAY series.
Of course, Tobe Hooper and Don Mancini are more than the sum of their signature creations. Tobe has numerous classics of the genre including:
Eaten Alive (1977)
Salem's Lot (1979)
The Funhouse (1981)
Poltergeist (1982)
Lifeforce (1985)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)
Any TWO of those flicks would make for an impressive as hell horror-resume, but the man just kept them coming. And Don Mancini, on top of creating and (mostly) shepherding the CHILD'S PLAY series throughout the years, has also written for two of the best recent horror TV series: HANNIBAL and CHANNEL ZERO. How bout them rotten apples?
Yes, we horror fans would be a TREMENDOUS loss if it weren't for these two brilliant and twisted minds. So, join us here at AITH today in wishing Mr. Tobe Hooper and Mr. Don Mancini a very happy, very bloody, birthday!
The next installment in the CHILD'S PLAY series, CULT OF CHUCKY, is currently filming with Mancini back in the director's chair after helming SEED OF CHUCKY and CURSE OF CHUCKY.
