Man, all of this SPLIT 2, UNBREAKABLE 2, GLASS movie business is getting a bit confusing, huh?
I mean by this point – with SPLIT having hit VOD and Blu-ray – anyone who cares what SPLIT actually was (i.e. UNBREAKABLE 2) already knows the secret. At least I hope they do considering I just ruined it about five separate times in the last few seconds.
But all the same GLASS (that is what we're just going to start calling it, okay?) had a massive rush of info dropped a few weeks ago, when we learned the film was written and set to star Bruce Willis, Sam Jackson, James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy, and that the film would, in fact, be called GLASS.
See, this is all confusing for no reason whatsoever. We are all on the same page here.
Anyways we have news today that SPLIT/GLASS producer Jason Blum was talking to Collider recently about GET OUT and was asked about GLASS. Turns out he hasn't even read the script yet! Can you believe it? One of the most powerful men in the industry (not to mention the producer of the f*cking movie) can't even get M. Night Shyamalan to show him the script.
Anyhow, Blum did know a bit about the film and spoke about the budget and the plan on when the film was set to go into production.
Jason Blum on the budget for GLASS:
The budget is more traditional, still by Hollywood standards a very low budget, but it is not $5 million.
Blum on when shooting should begin:
We have a release date in January of 2019, so we have to start shooting pretty soon.
Well, there you have it. Sooner than later this new GLASS film will be upon us and we will all be surprised at the end when David Dunn needs to recruit a team of superheroes to fight alongside him and finds "a guy who can hit baseballs and aliens harder than humanly possible with bats and sh*t".
Meaning GLASS will be a surprise prequel to SIGNS. And that sounds fine to me.
GLASS hits theaters January 18, 2019.
