Originally announced under the title The Deep, Freeform's "predatory mermaids" television series is now known as Siren, and the network has scheduled it to premiere in late March. As that premiere date draws near, a new trailer for the show has been released online and can be seen below.
Starring Alex Roe, Eline Powell, Fola Evans Aking-bola, Ian Verdun, and Rena Owen, the series is set in
Bristol Cove, a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean.
While I'm into the idea of killer mermaids, I would prefer these things remain ravenous beasts in the water and not start walking on land like THE LITTLE MERMAID. But I understand that my preference would be very limiting to a TV show, so I can go along with the fact that Siren has a mermaid walking around town.
Siren will begin airing on Freeform at 8pm on March 29th.
