Hulu orders series based on that creepy sleepover game Light as a Feather

Let me start this post out by making sure all of you guys are aware that this is in NO WAY a commercial for Wattpad and I have (unfortunately) not been paid so much as a nickel for writing this up. Believe me? Oh, well, either way, let's get to it.

Are any of you guys out there writers who are looking to get your book and/or short story adapted by a major studio? Then I'm thinking you need only look as far as the website Wattpad. Why? Because back in February, Wattpad and CW Seed launched the pilot episode of Cupid’s Match, and – you got it – the series is based on a Wattpad global hit by Lauren Palphreyman. And on top of that, there are shows based on Wattpad properties in the works at Universal, eOne, and more.

And if all of that wasn't enough for you to give the site a try, then maybe today's news will help out. We just learned Hulu has given Zoe Aarsen's supernatural thriller LIGHT AS A FEATHER a 10-episode straight-to-series order. The Wattpad story has more than 2.9M reads.

The new series is the latest collaboration between AwesomenessTV and Hulu, following the horror series FREAKISH. Wattpad and Kelsey Grammer’s Grammnet are also producing the series which follows:

five teenage girls as they deal with the supernatural fallout stemming from an innocent game of “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board.” When the girls start dying off in the exact way that was predicted, the survivors must figure out why they’re being targeted — and whether the evil force hunting them down is one of their own.

Lee Fleming Jr. created the series and is also the showrunner and executive producer along with Jordan Levin, Shelley Zimmerman, Joe Davola, Brett Bouttier, Aron Levitz, Eric Lehrman, Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo, Brian Sher, and Stella Bulochnikov. Kailey Marsh is a co-executive producer.

Light as a Feather is a captivating and unique story, with supernatural twists and thrills that readers all over the world have fallen in love with. The story is another example of a Wattpad fan favorite that is perfect for adaptation and new life on another platform.

Personally, I can even speak for the site's potential as a short story I posted there was almost picked up by TNT to be part of their planned revival of TALES FROM THE CRYPT. But then that didn't happen… All the same, if you're looking for some quality feedback on your writing, I highly suggest checking out the site. Production is slated to begin on this new teen horror series in June.
