I have a feeling I'm not alone in thinking that Brian De Palma's adaptation of Stephen King's CARRIE is one the best horror movies of all-time. The man knows his way around a horrific sequence as not only displayed in that film but other notable genre classics such as DRESSED TO KILL and BLOW OUT.
And if you're a fan of De Palma like I am, then today you'll be extra excited to hear that the man is heading back into our beloved genre soon with a new film inspired by… Harvey Weinstein? Yes, French publication Le Parisien (via The Playlist) reports De Palma has started work on his Weinstein-inspired script that will be taking on the media mogul's recent much-publicised sexual harassment and abuse.
De Palma on the film:
I’m writing a film about this scandal, a project I’m talking about with a French producer. My character won’t be named Harvey Weinstein but it will be a horror film, with a sexual aggressor, and it will take place in the film industry.
Weinstein will not be named in the film, but I guess De Palma has zero issues with letting the world know the film is totally based on him. Oh, well. I mean as powerful as Harvey Weinstein (see below) once was in La-La- Land, I think the fat kid from IT has more power these days. Whatever the subject matter may be, I'm there for De Palma's new film because… well it's De Palma's new film! I don't think I need much more of a reason to be there opening night, and I don't think you do either.
All the same, we will be keeping a close eye on this film as it develops here on AITH so stayed tuned and we will let you know as soon as we hear more!
