A couple months ago, we learned that Laura Vandervoort of JIGSAW (pictured above) would be taking on the Marilyn Chambers role in "twisted twins" Jen and Sylvia Soska's remake of the 1977 David Cronenberg body horror classic RABID. Recently the actress took to her Instagram account to share an interesting behind-the-scenes video that offers a glimpse of one of the steps in the preparation process – getting a mould of her head made by the film's special effects team. Vandervoort is claustrophic, so the team worked quickly… and this video is a time lapse presentation of the whole proess.
Directed by the Soskas from a script they wrote with John Serge, the RABID remake will be putting "a modern and relevant spin" on the original story. That's the tale of
Rose, a young woman who, after an accident leaves her scarred beyond recognition, undergoes a radical untested stem-cell treatment. While turning Rose into the belle of the ball, the experimental transformation comes at a price.
RABID has distribution deals in place with A71 in Canada, Shout! Studios in the US, and 101 FILMS in the UK. Film Mode Entertainment is presenting the project to potential distributors in other territories.
Michael Walker, Paul Lalonde, and John Vidette of Back 40 Pictures are producing with film, with Media Finance Capital's David Gilbery and Charles Dorfman executive producing. Media Finance Capital is financing with Telefilm Canada and the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
