John "The Arrow" Fallon's supernatual thriller/mindf*ck THE SHELTER, which the L.A. TIMES said was “remarkably ambitious” and was “a concise genre piece that doubles as a heavily metaphorical character sketch”, received a VOD and DVD release courtesy of Uncork'd Entertainment in the United States and has also sold in various countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden, and South East Asia. Now the film is available for viewing in the remaining territories, as it has found a home on Vimeo On Demand, where it can be rented for a one-week streaming period for the price of $1.99, or purchased for $4.99.
The directorial debut of Fallon, who also wrote the screenplay and produced the film with Donny Broussard, THE SHELTER stars Michael Paré, Gayle James, Rachel Whittle, Lauren Thomas, Daena Turner, and Amy Wickenheiser. The film tells the story of
Vagrant Thomas Jacob (Michael Paré of "Eddie and the Cruisers" fame), who finds shelter for the night when he falls upon a seemingly abandoned two-story home with its lights on and an inviting front door. Once inside, his past comes to haunt him and he soon realizes that he is not alone. There's a supernatural force on hand and it won't let him leave. Destiny has brought Thomas to this place but will he survive the ordeal?
Fallon had this to say about the decision to make THE SHELTER available through Vimeo On Demand:
"Since The Shelter’s domestic release, we’ve done all that we could do in terms of the classic distribution routes, but now it’s time for us to splash the film around the world, so that fans from anywhere can watch it whenever they want, from wherever they are! I'm happy that everybody will now be able to watch this unique, odd and very personal film.
And for me, this marks the end of my 4 years journey with the picture. So there’s something to celebrate and be proud of right there! Thanks to all who have supported me and the film over the years! It has been a very rewarding experience, one that changed who I am and that re-sparked and enriched by spirituality. I’m a better man and filmmaker for it and will bring all of that into my next film Heretic."
THE SHELTER was executive produced by Bruise Productions and JoBlo Movie Productions. Production and post-production elements were completed by Holbrook Multi Media. You can also read up on THE SHELTER on Twitter, Facebook, and at the film's official site.
