Guy Pearce Iron Man 3 Shane Black

It was just over two months ago when we heard that Michael Sheen would be co-starring with Vin Diesel in the Valiant comic book adaptation BLOODSHOT. Now BLOODSHOT is in production, and it has been revealed that Sheen isn't going to be in the film after all. He had to drop out due to scheduling issues.

Guy Pearce will be replacing Sheen in the role of Dr. Emil Harting, "the genius responsible for nanotechnology that exists inside the human body to not only repair it, but push it further than normal human limitations." This sounds like familiar ground for Pearce; five years ago, he played a villainous character in IRON MAN 3 (pictured above) who was also a genius involved with technology that could repair the human body and push it further than normal human limitations.

BLOODSHOT is about

Ray Garrison aka Bloodshot, who is brought back from the dead by Rising Spirit Technologies’ use of nanotechnology and suffers total memory loss. Ray struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he has become, with the help of a group of other augmented combatants called Chainsaw.

In the cast with Diesel and Pearce are Eiza Gonzalez, Toby Kebbell, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, and Alex Hernandez. Lamorne Morris also recently signed on to play a young scientist named Wilfred Wigans, who is an "unlikely ally" for Bloodshot.

Dave Wilson, who runs the visual effects company Blur Studio with DEADPOOL's Tim Miller, is making his feature directorial debut with BLOODSHOT, working from a screenplay by Eric Heisserer and Jeff Wadlow.

BLOODSHOT is said to be an R-rated film in the vein of ROBOCOP, THE TERMINATOR, and TOTAL RECALL, but it's going to be a while before we have a chance to see it. It's not scheduled to reach theatres until February 21, 2020.
