Shortened Heathers TV show to air in a five day marathon

A television series based on the 1988 dark comedy HEATHERS was supposed to be a flagship show for the Paramount Network, the channel formerly known as Spike. It was scheduled to debut in March, but then the network decided that airing it would be in poor taste after the Parkland school shooting in February. Having kept the series on the shelf for several months now, Paramount Network has decided that they're going to air it after all – but they're going to show all of the episodes over the course of a five day marathon.

The first two episodes of Heathers will premiere on Thursday, October 25th, with two more episodes airing on Friday, two more on Saturday, and two more on Sunday. On Monday the 29th the ninth and final episode will air, followed by a Heathers-themed episode of Lip Sync Battle that will feature the show's cast members Melanie Field and Brendan Scannell.

This season of Heathers was originally intended to run for ten episodes, but it has been edited down to a nine episode run that will reportedly end with a cliffhanger… Which is odd, partly because a cliffhanger implies that Paramount Network hopes to make another season despite being hesitant to air this one, but also because this was supposed to be an anthology series that would center on a different group of Heathers in a different location every season. (Rumor was that season two was supposed to take place in the 1700s, with Marie Antoinette as the lead character.)

This season was also supposed to build up to a bomb going off in the high school, just like in the movie, but the school bombing is no longer in there.

Veronica as she navigates a clique of mean girls — all named Heather — and rebels after meeting J.D., the new guy at school. Soon, the Heathers start "accidentally" dying at the hands of Veronica and J.D., who cover up the deaths by faking them as suicides.

Jasmine Mathews, Brendan Scannell, and Melanie Field play the show's Heathers, with Grace Victoria Cox and James Scully as Veronica and J.D. Original HEATHERS star Shannen Doherty is also in the cast.
