Rambo 5: Last Blood casts Spanish actor as its villain

Although the film is set around the U.S./Mexico border, RAMBO 5: LAST BLOOD is being filmed in Bulgaria and Spain, a fact that is reflected in the casting: both the female lead and now the villain are natives of Spain. It was just a few days ago that we learned Paz Vega had joined returning franchise star Sylvester Stallone in the new sequel, which will show us what happens when

John Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S./Mexico border to help find the kidnapped daughter of one of his close friends. He quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels. 

Vega's character is Carmen Delgado, "a reporter who covers the Mexican drug trade and teams up with Rambo after her younger half-sister is kidnapped."

Now we know who is behind all the trouble these characters will be going through, as it has been announced that Sergio Peris-Mencheta, who played the character Angel in RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE and can currently be seen on the FX series Snowfall, has been cast in the role of cartel leader Hugo Martinez.

There's a chance we'll be hearing of another prominent villain soon, as rumor has it that Hugo works alongside his brother Victor… Victor and Hugo? Why is there a subtle reference to the author of The Hunchback of Notre Dame with the names of the bad guys?

Also in the cast is American actress Yvette Monreal, who plays Gabrielle, the kidnapped daughter of Rambo's friend.

Scripted by Stallone and Matt Cirulnick, RAMBO 5: LAST BLOOD is being directed by Adrian Grunberg. Grunberg previously directed GET THE GRINGO, an action movie starring Mel Gibson and set in a prison in Mexico.

Coming to us from Lionsgate and Millennium Media, the film is produced by Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon, with Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, and Boaz Davidson executive producing.
