A few years ago, Chris LaMartina and a mini-army of cinematic comrades made a little movie called WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL. It was a love letter to local television and everyone's favorite spooky holiday. The project was covered by major media outlets like the New York Times and National Public Radio and since its release, it’s become a minor cult classic amongst film fans for its kitschy quirks and DIY aesthetic.
The original film holds an important place in my horror heart and it is with this in mind I'm excited to pass along the news that LaMartina and team are making a sequel… but they need your help! The sequel is currently looking to fund it's $50,000 budget over on GoFundMe.com. Any money donated toward this project will go directly to the costs surrounding production. Everything from locations to costumes… special FX to stock footage licensing.
Chris LaMartina:
It's a monster undertaking but I'm confident we're going to deliver something you will lose your mind over and will become a staple of your October movie rotation for years to come.
At this point, you might be curious what the sequel is actually about. How *could* you make a follow-up to WNUF Halloween Special? Well, that's part of the surprise and while the guys aren't giving anything away, the project's campaign page does give three hints on the upcoming production.
1. It's not a remake or a reboot. It's a continuation of the universe built in WNUF.
2. It will take place in the 1990s.
3. There will be returning characters.
This movie won't be made without your help and with your donation, there are some incredible gifts you could receive— Everything from super-limited edition VHS tapes, producer credits, special thanks or even starring roles. So join the team and help make a truly batshit crazy movie. They can't do it without you. So if you wanna see this happen, please donate and have a Happy Halloween! Until we know more, you can buy the original flick HERE.
