Last week I made a joke about how it was a new day and thus we have a new series of posters for writer/director M. Night Shyamalan's simultaneous sequel to UNBREAKABLE and SPLIT. And wouldn't you just know it? Here we are yet again today with a new series of posters for GLASS. This time they are banner posters and they're actually really badass so I suggest checking them out below. But that said, let me work something else into this article as well so it's not just posters, posters, and posters that we talk about when it comes to GLASS. Let's talk about the fact that this new film will feature footage that was unused in UNBREAKABLE!
Yes, Shyamalan recently spoke to Fandango about his new movie and said:
I don't want to give too much away but you do see moments of the original Unbreakable… scenes you didn't get to see.
Sweet! And while I have you guys here, let's also talk about James McAvoy's body, shall we? No seriously. For those of you interested in such things, celebrity trainer Magnus Lygdback, who was tasked with taking McAvoy to the next level for the sequel, recently spoke about just what it took to bring this Bite-Sized Bane to the screen in GLASS.
Celebrity trainer Magnus Lygdback:
Obviously, he was brilliant in Split, but I don't think his physique was where it could have been, and I think everyone recognized that within the team. That's why they called me. We had a lot of work to do. The Beast is supposed to be able to flex his veins and muscles and have a freaky look. It was about building as much mass as possible in a short time. I like to start the day with working out because that's when you have the most energy. We had a program with which you go really hard on a couple of muscle groups at a time and then let them rest. So we would do legs one day, back and outside shoulders the second day, the third day the chest, front shoulders and core, and the fourth day, arms. That allows the muscles to recover before you work them again and also means you can do more sets, more reps on each muscle. I've never counted calories because you can eat a bag of crisps and get 1,000 calories or eat a chicken breast and get 1,000 calories. It's about the quality, the proportion of the macros: fat and carbs are the energy source and protein is the building stone of the muscles and tissue.
This kind of stuff doesn't hold much interest for me. It did once upon a time, but now I fully rock the dad bod. All the same, maybe you found it interesting. And if you didn't, at least we have the new banner posters to look at. Check out the new posters below and let us know what you think!
Here's the official GLASS synopsis:
M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals—2000’s Unbreakable, and 2016’s Split—in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass. From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast. Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
Returning with Willis and Jackson from UNBREAKABLE is Spencer Treat Clark as Dunn's son and Charlayne Woodard as Price's mother. Back with McAvoy from SPLIT is Anya Taylor-Joy (THE WITCH). Sarah Paulson (AMERICAN HORROR STORY) joins the cast this time around as well. And if you're looking forward to witnessing all the UN-SPLIT-ABLE mayhem this January, then you might be interested to know that the film has scored a PG-13 rating via the powers that be over at the MPAA for "violence including some bloody images, thematic elements, and language."
Shyamalan produced GLASS with Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, Ashwin Rajan, and Marc Bienstock. Steven Schneider, Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum, and Kevin Frakes served as executive producers. GLASS is scheduled to twist and turn its way into theatres on January 18, 2019.
