CBS has ordered a pilot for a new show called Frankenstein… but don't get your hopes up that this is going to be a horror series. If you're familiar with the shows CBS likes to put out there, it will come as no surprise to hear that their version of a "Frankenstein's Monster" is going to be working with the police force and solving crimes.

Written by Jason Tracey, this take on Frankenstein will introduce viewers to a San Francisco homicide detective who is

mysteriously brought back to life after being killed in the line of duty. But as he resumes his old life and he and his wife realize he isn't the same person he used to be, they zero in on the strange man behind his resurrection – Dr. Victor Frankenstein.

Fox did something similar to this a few years ago, developing a project that started out with the title Frankenstein but eventually made it to the screen with the title Second Chance and no characters named Frankenstein in it. That show, about a murdered 75-year-old former sheriff being resurrected as a 35-year-old, only lasted 11 episodes.

CBS has had success with their modern Sherlock Holmes series Elementary, so let's see if they can replicate that success with their Frankenstein.

I don't usually watch this sort of detective show, so I probably won't be watching this one.
