This is something that should come as a surprise to no one, but AMC has officially announced that they have ordered a tenth season of their hit series The Walking Dead. The ratings have been on the decline, but The Walking Dead still draws in a high number of viewers. Even though the series has lost its lead actor Andrew Lincoln, who will be starring in a trilogy of Walking Dead feature films, the show goes on.

AMC confirmed that there will be a season 10 and that it will begin airing on the network in October by posting a short video on social media. The video features The Whisperers, the villainous group we're going to be learning more about in the second half of season 9, implying that they're still going to be a threat in season 10.

Season 9's midseason premiere will be airing on AMC this Sunday, February 10th.

The second half of The Walking Dead: Season 9 finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. Since the disappearance of Rick, many of these characters have become strangers to each other, and in some ways, strangers to themselves. What they do know is that they are in undeniable danger. They will soon realize the world just beyond does not operate as they thought. The group’s rules and ways of survival no longer guarantee their safety. A whole new threat has crossed their paths, and they soon discover it’s unlike any threat they have encountered or endured before. The group will start to question what they think they see. What may appear to be normal in this post-apocalyptic world could actually be more disturbing and terrifying than when the apocalypse first broke out. All that is certain is the stakes are high and numerous.

I look forward to properly meeting the Whisperers when season 9 resumes, and hope they'll be interesting enough that I'll want to keep watching their shenanigans in season 10.
