CW’s The Lost Boys snags Twilight director and lead cast

I know it's late but this here guy can't sleep so I'm going to go ahead and pass along the news The CW's upcoming THE LOST BOYS TV series has not only snagged its director but most of its lead cast as well. Let's start off with the bad-ish news. The pilot episode will be helmed by Catherine Hardwicke, best known as the director of – get this – TWILIGHT. Yes, THAT TWILIGHT. That said, Hardwicke isn't just "the director of that vampire movie". She has also helmed such flicks as THIRTEEN, LORDS OF DOGTOWN, and RED RIDING HOOD. Make of that resume what you will.

Moving on to the cast, Kiele Sanchez is our new Lucy, played in the original film by Dianne Wiest. Here's a rundown on her character:

Still mourning the death of her husband, Lucy (Sanchez) is forced to move back home to Santa Carla — something she’s dreaded since causing a town scandal 27 years ago when she ditched her boyfriend to run off with another man.

Deadline also reports the new kids on the chopping block will include Tyler Posey (TEEN WOLF) as Michael, played by Jason Patric in the original film. Here's his rundown:

Lucy’s elder son Michael’s plan to attend Columbia Medical school is thrown off by the diagnosis that he shares the same genetic weakness that killed his father. The only thing that consoles him is the friendship he strikes up with Stella, a young woman who runs a concession stand on the Santa Carla boardwalk.

Medalion Rahimi will play this Stella character, who is described as "a version of the Star character played by Jami Gertz" in the original film. Her rundown goes like this:

Stella, carefree and Californian, has an immediate spark with Michael, but she’s not single…

Enter Dakota Shapiro as new David, portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland in the original film. His rundown states:

[Stella's] boyfriend is the sexy, dangerous and immortal vampire David, who is sometimes scary and always intense. The leader of a vampire gang, he’s wildly in love with Stella, who’s the only one who can control him.

And so there you have it. Three hip actors, one director of TWILIGHT, and a partridge in a pear tree. Now I'm just curious to see who fills out the other roles. More specifically, this new version's take on The Frog Brothers, I mean The Frog Sisters. This could be interesting… or not.
