Legendary actor/director Peter Bogdanovich is on a mission: to not let the unfinished masterwork of reclusive, enigmatic genius Orson Welles, a drama titled THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND, wallow permanently in the production purgatory where all unfinished cinematic works reside. He intends to finish the film and finish it just as Welles himself had intended, gleaning information of Welles’ intentions from as many sources as he can get his hands on. Apparently, there were complicated rights issues to overcome with TV network Showtime but they’ve seemingly been resolved and if all goes well, the project could be hitting celluloid as early as 2008. The film starred John Huston as an aging film director who’s having difficulties getting a film off the ground and the dramatic interplay involved therein. It would have presumably been Welles’ most daring and experimental film. Get a decent summary of everything from Jeff Wells over HERE or read Bogdanovich’s extensive thoughts on the matter HERE.
