After Zach Braff recently announced he wouldn’t be involved in any FLETCH WON developments, it now appears via Moviehole, that the Weinsteins have in fact wiped the movie from their upcoming movie schedule. It’s fairly understandable, given GRINDHOUSE recently lost the boys a ton of money, that a few cost-effective moves might be made. It looks like this is destined to be one of those projects that gestates in development wasteland for years. We all remember when Kevin Smith apparently wanted to do it with Jason Lee as Fletch, god that seems like decades ago. Apparently, prospective director Bill Lawrence (SCRUBS) has now been told that the project is either on hold or just not something the studio are looking to do right now. I’m not a huge fan of SCRUBS, but it’s certainly different, and I hate knowing that another potentially ‘different’ film has now gone out of production.
Fletch dead?
