The folks over at Allocine recently landed the first trailer for the James Gray-directed crime drama WE OWN THE NIGHT. In it, Joaquin Phoenix plays an 80s-era NY nightclub owner who steps in to save his brother (Mark Wahlberg) and father (Robert Duvall), who also happen to be cops, after they become involved with the Russian mob. Eva Mendes also stars as a punishing hottie. Click on Wahlberg’s intensely brooding stare or the recently released poster below to check out the trailer. The film currently has no stateside release date but the North American rights should sell relatively quickly at Cannes so we’ll have a date for you soon enough.
