Perhaps in an effort to stymy the rampant pre-release piracy of Michael Moore’s upcoming indictment of the US health care system, SICKO, Lionsgate and The Weinstein Co. have decided to release the film in Manhattan a week earlier than its original June 29th release date (which would put it at June 22nd). Or maybe they’ve noticed how well the film’s being received and want to get some word-of-mouth going before its wide release. Either way, this flick’s gonna make some serious bank because if there’s one thing that chubby bastard knows how to do is rile people up into a self-righteous huff and that translates to mad box office cash. We’re talking “Judd Apatow comedy” type cash here.
