I wonder if when PT Anderson was tucked away in his cavern in the Santa Ana mountain range, writing THERE WILL BE BLOOD, if he knew that two years later Saturday Night Live would be parodying his now-famous ‘milkshake’ line. Well I did. And guess what? I was right, as I tend to be. You can head over to NBC.com and check out the sketch, which isn’t notable so much for it’s humour, but more for Bill Hader’s spot-on Daniel Plainview impersonation. Poor Daniel Day-Lewis. He explores the darkest corners of his psyche to spawn one of the most intense characters ever put on screen, and here comes Bill Hader pulling out that same performance out of his knapsack for a throwaway sketch on a past-its-prime comedy show.
