The Coen Bros., currently riding high from their Oscar winning NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, will see their follow-up, the dark comedy BURN AFTER READING, open the upcoming 65th Venice Film Festival on August 27th, though it hasn’t been decided whether the film will play in or out of competition. In it, a CIA agent’s (John Malkovich) memoirs mistakenly falls into the hands of two Washington DC gym employees (Brad Pitt and George Clooney), who decided to exploit the material for their own gain. This will be the second time a Coen Bros. film has opened in Venice – INTOLERABLE CRUELTY opened the 2003 festival. As the film is a Working Title production, it will open first in the UK on September 5th and then stateside via Focus Features on September 12th.
