Hudgens to the Moon?

Vanessa Hudgens, star of the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL series (though perhaps best known to the lot of us for showing off her Jo’s and Blo to the world via self-shot photography), could be in talks to star in another teen-crazy franchise. The actress is reportedly in talks to star in the TWILIGHT sequel NEW MOON. According to both MTV and EW Hudgens has met with producers and presumably new director Chris Weitz about the role of Leah Clearwater, a quasi-evil werewolf. Hudgens has been rumored to be up for the part for a while (apparently) despite the fact that she’s not quite as physically intimidating as the character in the books (Hudgens is about a foot shorter). Of course I haven’t read any of the TWILIGHT books and I’m getting all this background information from the “Twilight” wiki. So wait, now there are vampires and werewolves in TWILIGHT? What’s the difference between this and UNDERWORLD? In any event, the news is far from official but with a November release date already set, expect casting to move quickly.
